Fadogia agrestis has gained popularity for its potential as a libido aid. Studies in rodents show promise. One study found that giving Fadogia agrestis for just 5 days significantly increased testosterone levels (doubling at 18mg/kg, tripling at 50mg/kg, and multiplying by six at 100mg/kg)—as well as boosted libido (as measured by mounting frequency). These results suggest Fadogia agrestis may be more powerful than other herbs like Spilanthes acmella for testosterone and libido enhancement, but a potent effect may be achieved by taking both herbs simultaneously (which is why Spilanthes acmella was included in Test XL too). Another study in rodents observed an increase in testicular weight by 11-15% with Fadogia agrestis supplementation. Testicular weight is loosely correlated to testicular output.
While animal studies hint at potential benefits for erectile function, they also show an interesting side benefit of fadogia: delayed ejaculation. This extended time to orgasm is uncommon for aphrodisiacs, which typically have the opposite effect. So Fadogia agrestis may in fact help you last longer.
Test XL uses the clinically studied amount (when translated to HED — human equivalent dosage), 1200mg.
Paederia foetida is a well known aphrodisiac, and has an impressive ability to improve seminal parameters such as semen quality and motility as well.
In sexually mature rats given 50-200mg/kg of the ethanolic extract of Paederia foetida, the aphrodisiac effect was confirmed by an increase in mounting frequency and decrease in mounting latency, as well as an increase in insertion frequency and decrease in insertion latency. These effects were both dose and time dependent, with the peak values (given) being reached with 200mg/kg after a full 28 days. The aphrodisiac effects (highest dose at 28 days) were comparable to the active control of 0.5mg/kg testosterone (injections) biweekly (in rats). This means Paederia foetida's effects may intensify with continued use.
