Phosphatidic acid is a naturally occurring molecule, specifically a glycerophospholipid, found in cell membranes. It acts as a lipid mediator by transmitting signals within cells that are essential for various biological processes, including muscle protein synthesis. Mediator® Phosphatidic Acid is a patented and clinically studied form of phosphatidic acid that has been shown to increase max strength, muscle mass, and fat loss in healthy adults who engage in resistance training [1].
The ergogenic benefits of phosphatidic acid supplementation appear to be independent of protein intake, suggesting that it is an integral mediator of the mechanistic/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) protein complexes that control skeletal muscle protein synthesis [2, 3].
